The Pink Panther for Institute Magazine

"Pink Panther" has been released today inside Institute Magazine.

Here's a look at some work behind the scenes:

Pele and I instantly connected when we first spoke about the makeup for this editorial; we wanted to highlight Rose's features and go a bit extreme with the color. I always wanted to try a neon pink makeup look, so I was really excited to express myself and try something new.

The pinks were a combination of MAC's "Full Fuchsia" and "Pinch O Peach" 

to exaggerate the contours in her face. I blended and blended and blended for almost 2 hours so the colors seeped seamlessly into her skin with a fluffy brush like the MAC 168 Contour Brush.

Her base foundation is Face Atelier "Ultra Pro Foundation" in Shade #2

Of course, I used my magical Inglot highlighter to create that beautiful glow for the beauty shots.

Her lips were MAC's "Magenta" lip liner and 3-4 different lip glosses on top.

Rose's hair is naturally curly, so I added more curls and more volume so it looked like a lion's mane when she walked down the streets of Chicago.

The Love Issue | Turn Magazine

This editorial was really magical!

Sam Hylla always has a whimsical approach with her editorials and she encouraged me to play with pastels from the eyes, to the cheeks, to the lipstick. We wanted to create a story that showed a girl traveling in her own little world. Turn Magazine adored our story so much, we made the cover as well as a six page spread inside!  

I wanted Jami's hair to look like a french beret for a few shots, so I wrapped all her hair in a sideways bun. I didn't add extenstions for Jami, that is ALL her hair!

 I used MAC Cream Cup Lipstick

 and NARS Bolero Velvet Lip Pencil

as the two main lip colors for this story.

 

 

I used Inglot pastel eye shadows for the eyes and MAC "Peaches" Powder Blush to give a sheer flush to Jami's face.

Jorge Gera

I was able to do a test shoot with Chicago fashion photographer Jorge Gera and the fantastic model Catherine Ivette on December 14th, 2010.


Jorge has a really easy going, down to earth personality and is quite a perfectionist. He has to test, test, test until the lighting is PERFECT to his liking. He sends out his edited photos so FAST AND he's funny! He kept me laughing.

Catherine is so cute! I love working with her, she is a true sweetheart. I like that she tried different looks from different angles. She really worked it!
